About Sherri “Miss Science” Dodgson

In 2009, Sherri Smith Dodgson saw a need for a quality science enrichment program in the greater Phoenix area. She developed Discover Science 4 Kids, offering a 4-week summer camp to students entering 2nd through 6th grades. After receiving feedback from parents wanting more, Sherri raised capital through a grant to create a pilot science program for one of Scottsdale Unified School Districts K-8 schools.

A former science teacher, Sherri holds a BS in Elementary Education from Southern Utah

University and an MA in Organizational Management. She is the Legislative Liaison for the

Scottsdale Parent Council, a member of the Scottsdale Chamber Workforce Development

Committee and STEM Sub-Committee, SciTech Festival Action Committee, CTE Advisory

Committee (SUSD), Arizona Technology Council and a regular contributor for Arizona Midday-

Channel 12 (NBC).

The creation of SciPreneur came in 2010 when Melissa was exposed to the challenge of getting young girls interested in their science education.
She proposed her idea to local school personnel about combining specialized science curriculum with her entrepreneurial program.  Months later at a local STEM meeting, she met Sherri who already had a successful, hands-on science program for kids.  The two got together and piloted their SciPreneur program at Microsoft for next six months.

Since then they have developed and executed in-school curriculum, after school enrichment programs, camps, workshops and professional development.
